We have explored a few tips to make your grocery/convenience store more efficient. In that article, we focused on how to implement technology in the store. In this post, we want to give you another 4 tips, but this time we will be focusing on operation within the store. These are implementations that can be done immediately and could also see an instant positive response from the public. Without further ado, these are our 4 tips to improve productivity in your grocery/convenience store.

Prioritize Organization

Try to keep your store tidy and organized. This makes it easier to navigate through the store and to know where every product is. Furthermore, as humans, we love environments that are aesthetically pleasing. Having organized products with clear price labels will allow customers to find the products they need promptly.

Customer Service Is (Still) Key

Customer service is a very important part of the company. Make sure that your staff is attentive and make sure that good staff gets rewarded for their positive behaviour. This encourages positive reinforcement, while also providing a good image in the eye of the customer. Remember that your current customers are your biggest marketing device, so investing in customer service will always be a win-win.

Maintain key areas clean and tidy

Toilets, food stations, soda fountains, slushies… these are areas that tend to get dirty. Ensure that the machines are working properly as there could be complications (naturally or due to customer mishandling). Clean these areas frequently as they are prone to spills. To extend the life of your equipment, clean and sanitize equipment to eliminate germs. This can also avoid cross-contamination and maintain an overall positive customer opinion.

Manage Your Inventory and Offer More Products

Remember that customers have different needs and are also willing to try new things. A trip to the grocery store doesn’t have to be a routine. Try to offer new products and place them strategically around the store. Store new drinks next to the more popular ones. Stock small candy bags on the check out desk. This will encourage regular customers to try new things and new customers to come to your shop.
